- Sarah - for her friends Madeline and Valerie who have both recently been diagnosed with cancer; and for her immediate family who seem to be spiritually disconnected both between each other and with the church
- Marie - for her sister Linda who was recently diagnosed with liver cancer
- Laurie - for her daughter Elizabeth and the others going on their high school senior retreat
- Arianna - for the Father Mike, the pastor of her church, whose mother just passed away
- and for Brett, for having the resolve and the courage to successfully continue his challenge of not drinking until Thanksgiving...
